Hi, I took the time out to e-mail an organisation called 'thaiwales' who are organising the visit of the monks. Apparently they visit Briton Ferry on average three times a year and were last here in April. I'm posting some of the information that was e-mailed to me....it looks really interesting.
Dear Jan Thanks for your e-mail and interest. The next visit, as someone has already found out on our web page: thaiwales.co.uk, is on Sunday, 6th July. I do organise visits of the Buddhist monks three times a year on my own merit. The monks come from the Buddhest temple in Birmingham. For the past 5 years we organised the same event in Swansea but the venue proved too small because of the popularity the event. One of our members who lives in Briton Ferry recommended me to use Briton Ferry Community Hall and the last visit of Buddhist monks was on 6th April and the next one is Sunday, 6th July. The last visit for this year is 5th October. People come from different part of Wales and England i.e. Consultant, Doctors, Solicitor, Police Officer etc. Different people of different nationalities. The monks should arrive around 10.30 a.m. if you are interested you may join us. We (Thai people) will bring a dish or two of food each and all who attend will have lunch. It is a good community/family atmosphere. After lunch the monks will lead short meditation, give surmon and blessing. I would appreciate if you could let me know roughly how many people would be interested to attend so that I can make sure of the seating and food. You may have a look at our web page to see what we actually do. Look forward to meeting you.
If anyone is interested in attending The Community Centre in July give me a ring at The Community House on 01639 796009 or contact thaiwales.co.uk directly.
